Year 1 / 2 have been very busy since starting back in September.

MATHS
We have embraced the curriculum changes for mathematics and are using lots of different resources to help understand number. Here we are hard at work.

The patterns of the spots help us remember what numbers look like.

We can add multiple numbers and find quick ways to make totals.

Once we know the patterns of the dots we can use numbers more confidently.

We can compare heights of our toys and use language related to size.

Solving money puzzles is easier when we have coins to count.

We have been working hard to record all our number bonds to 10 and 20.

LITERACY
In Literacy we have spent a while looking at the story of the Gruffalo and using our thinking hats. It was fun to think about the story and add sound effects to make it more interesting.

Labels help us know what different parts of a picture are. These are our labels for the bodies we drew around.

In Science we have been exploring our senses. We have enjoyed guessing the smell, taste, sound, touch and describing what we see. Some have been pleasant, and others have not!

Our topic on old and new toys has involved lots of drawing and sorting. We have looked at the materials and colours used and safety of old and new toys.
